My air conditioner window unit has started making an airy humming noise when it is turned off. I unplugged it and the noise continues, so I assume it's not an electrical problem. It sort of sounds like the noise a toilet makes when it's refilling, except it never stops. This noise started a few days after I put the AC back in the window. I didn't have this problem last year with the same unit. The AC seems to be working apart from this noise.
I rent, and the AC unit belongs to the landlord, but he is cheap and unlikely to do anything as long as the AC is working.
Is this something to be concerned about, or should I just live with the white noise? Thanks for any tips you can offer!
