Can a split replace a central air unit in terms of pipes and connections.

I have a massive central FB4 Carrier unit for my bedroom that makes a lot of noise and uses a lot of power. It cools the bathroom, the walk in closet, my attached office and the bedroom. About 600 sq ft. I would like to replace it with a more modest 20,000 btu split AC and just have it cool my bedroom. Can I use the installed pipes and connections that connect the unit to the also massive condenser outside. I cannot make modifications to the outside of the building which is why I am stuck using the piping already installed. Cheers and thanks for your help.
