Just got my 30 yr old system replaced with a Carrier Comfort system. The air handler is a FB4C. Online images don't show a gap at the bottom of the unit, but there's one on mine, and there's air moving into it.
I'm curious about this gap because I built a beadboard box to hide the entire air handler, but I don't want to restrict air flow if that gap is vital.
If there has to be airflow, could I simply cut away the bottom edges of the beadboard and add a vent?
