Hi,
I have a technical background but not in HVAC design so I'd appreciate some advice on whether a contractor zoned my two-story, commercial rental building correctly. I need to understand how you choose the relative location within the building to place branches on the same branch provider (BP) unit. Do you want spaces with similar ambient temperatures, or spaces with very different ambient temperatures, on the same BP unit? For example, do you want all first-floor suites with exterior windows on the same branch?
I have indoor heating/cooling unit installed in 13 different suites in an office building, 1 indoor unit in a kitchen, and 1 indoor unit in a common area. During the shoulder season, we've figured out that some tenants want the indoor units to call for heat while other tenants want the indoor units to call for cool. There are two separate heat pumps, these Daikin RMXS48LVJU Outdoor Compressor Multi-Zone Mini-Split for 2 - 8 Indoor Units, each of which has these three, 3-branch BP units. I don't know why we were sold three, 3-branch units when the system can accommodate only 8 zones and we clearly weren't going to go over the BTU limit or maximum pipe length? Also, we were sold the remote controls rather than the wired thermostats so I'm trying to figure out a less expensive solution than installing 15 wired thermostats (~$10k) to prevent tenants from causing the system to go to standby whenever someone calls for heat when the system is in fan or cool mode.
Thank you in advance your guidance on this!
