I have a Trane 1200XL. I't quite old, I think early 90's. It's worked great the last 4 years since i've been in this house. The past week, it hasn't been cooling the house properly. If I set the thermostat to 68, the temperature hardly stays under 75 and is running non-stop. This AC has always pumped out freezing cold air through the vents, but now it feels slightly warmer (still cool) and not as much air flow. I just replaced the filter a couple months ago. It's one of those huge filters that are 25x20x5 and is supposed to be good for a year. I checked it and it's clean. The AC fan is blowing good. There are two connections that I see on the AC. One small and one large. The larger one is really cold and has condensation on it. The smaller one is Not Hot or cold, just warm i guess. The coils on the AC appear to be clean. When i set the thermostat FAN to ON instead of Auto, nothing happens. Shouldn't it start immediately? Would this have anything to do with the house not cooling properly? I have a guy coming out today, I'm thinking I might be low on freon. Any thoughts from my fellow redditors?
