I contacted my local HVAC dealer about installing a whole-house humidifier. They recommended these two models:
- AprilAire 600 - $740 installed
- AprilAire 700 - $790 installed
If I understand what I've read online correctly, the 600 is a bypass that humidifies air in the return before it goes through the furnace. The 700 humidifies the air after it goes through the furnace. Based on that the 700 makes more sense to me because I thought the furnace is whats drying the air out in the first place. However the dealer says the 600 is more popular.
Is it just price, or is there more to this? I'm not sure how to choose between the models.
