Hi all--
I'm in a rental home and have an arrangement where I essentially take care of any expenses and then take the money off my rent to the homeowner. It's worked well for 3+ years.
The Trane heat pump recently went out and the tech that came out put current through the compressor and said it's not passing between any of the connections. It's over 20 years old so time for a replacement.
We've gotten 4 quotes and my wife was most impressed with one that provided both heat pump and ac replacement quotes.
We live in the Portland OR, area and have been impressed with the heat pump and the seemingly lower bills from other houses we've lived in.
I'm curious if you'd recommend a heat pump or AC unit these days?
The cheapest AC option quoted is for a Payne 13 seer builder model with 11 eer cooling. Also quoted was a Bryant unit for a few hundred more.
Is there a big difference in manufacture quality between the brands or is it like tvs and other appliances where they are all made by the same manufacturer?
Thanks for the advise and recommendations!
