I have a 4TEE3C04A1000A (American Standard Acculink) air handler that is currently wired to the thermostat with 3 wires labeled "Data", "24VAC Hot", and "24VAC Common" at the thermostat.
I want to open up the air handler and see if there are other contacts that would allow me to hook up an Ecobee 3.
I'm a Network Admin by trade and am used to poking around in servers, PCs, and such so I have a DMM, screwdrivers and such.
Anybody have knowledge of this unit to save me the trouble or advice on how to stay safe when opening up the air handler? Or would you just pay double/triple the price to put in a proprietary thermostat (the AS-950 is something like $600 + local markup)
I have a ACONT900A now but it is pretty featureless compared to a modern thermostat. It plays nice with the equipment I have but only has 4 periods a day, no ability to adjust the 2nd stage heat pump lockout, no energy usage collection, no running time collection, no stage status, small screen, low contrast screen and so on.
