Hey there,
Our furnace is crapping out on our first home (Furnace is roughly 20 years old.... Unsure of actual age). We had it serviced and it needs another few hundred in parts from the sounds of it. We're thinking we'll rip the band aid off and have it replaced and save the headache for the future. At least we're getting all the big expenses out of the way early.
We live in Portland, OR so A/C isn't a "must-have" but would be nice to have. What kind of cost difference am I looking at to have A/C done at the same time? I mean, PDX is only hot for like 2 months out of the year, but it would be nice not to have to setup fans and window a/c units.
Home Specs: 2 Bed, 1 Bath, 1000 Sq Foot Bungalow with a ducted Gas Furnace system. No A/C.
I love the idea of a heat pump, but the infrastructure is already there for a furnace.
Any advice is appreciated.
