Hi all. Hope you can help. I am getting my 20+ year old furnace and central A/C unit replaced. I had an estimator come out yesterday from a company that has numerous positive reviews online. I have an 838 sq. ft. condominium unit on the 1st floor in Central NJ. I have a unit above and below me. The furnace is in my laundry room, and the A/C unit is on the balcony.
He quoted me 8K total for a 13 SEER Carrier (24x24) unit (he said my current setup cannot house a higher efficiency) and a Carrier 45K BTU furnace. This is my first home, but I thought the price quoted was a little steep. I have someone coming out today as well, so I'll have another opinion. Am I being unrealistic with cost? Or, am I being ripped off? What is the range here I should be looking at?
