I have a new installation with a modulating furnace, and a two stage condensor. They installed a Venstar touch screen thermostat. This thermostat only allows me to change temperature by one degree. I have seen other thermostats that let you change temperature by 1/2 of a degree, but I don't know what brand.
So, is there a smart thermostat that gives more precision than one degree?
Also, the Venstar seems to be light on information about what's happening... it basically says it's either heating or cooling. I'd like to know what's happening with my two stage condensor. I'd also like to see better control over the fan speed in the furnace... if the unit is in fan mode, there's just a single fixed (low) speed. Then when the cooling kicks in, the fan seems to run at full blast. Shouldn't it run at in-between speeds sometimes?
