Differences in Return Air & Conditioned Air Temperatures

So i setup some probes to measure the air temp in the return (just before the return air hits the filter) and the conditioned air just as it heads into the ducting for the vents

I am getting approx 8F difference between the 2.

Conditioned Air - 67.5F Return Air - 75.6F Ambient Outside Temp 79F Thermostat set to 78F

I have no signs of leaks in the system and all the mesh surrounding the coils on the AC unit outside are clean and free of debris. Should I expect more of a temp difference? It is a new house to me so I don't know the state of the freon or last service date..
