EPA 608 test ?

I need to get EPA 608 certified to buy some stuff at the local HVAC supply house. Can I get by with the online test ( Type 1 only) or do I need the tests ( Type II or Universal Pkg-I,II,III) which require taking a proctored exam ( adminsitered at some supply houses ) ? -Thanks
