Help with floor height AC vents

Hi all,

I'm renting a house that has AC vents in the walls mounted at floor height. The house feels too warm, even though the vents are blowing very cold air. I've measured 81 degrees at the height of my kitchen bar, and 75 degrees in the same spot at floor level.

Clearly I have a problem with the cold air just sitting on the floor. Does anyone know a way to fix this? Would pedestal fans help in this case?
