Homeowners who are too close.

We've all had the homeowner who rides you like a backpack. Well, I did a routine call for a guy who was supposed to be a friend of my boss. Capable carpenter & extremely handy. So I showed him what I was doing while doing a pre-summer startup. I blew out all of his condensers electrical compartments with nitrogen, checked the contractors, tightened the wiring, checked the capacitors, added 2 hardstart kits I had for free, removed the top cover, vacuumed the condenser out, cleaned the coil's, omed out the compressor & merged all the motors. I remember mentioning that after June, when all the pollen stops, he might want to gently wash the coil's again using his garden hose. I showed him how to remove the top cap & take pictures of the wires for the Condenser fan motor so he could rewire it correctly. Well, around the end of June the guy calls my cell. He tells me he cleaned the coil's but the systems not working correctly. Instead of using the "rain" setting on his spray nozzle, he used "jet". Well, the coil's were flattened beyond repair. I asked him why didn't he stop when he saw them bending over, then explained he took them apart & his teenage son did the hose work. The 14yr old even wrote his initials into the coil. Luckily the system was 17yrs old (still in great shape up to that point) and he opted for a replacement of the whole system instead of just putting in two new R-22 condensers. I felt bad for him but at least he could laugh about it. As a special request during install, he made his son work for us for free. He insisted on not wearing a,shirt while insulating the new ductwork in the attic. The kid did an amazing job, but it cheddar for a week lol.
