Killing and restoring power to window AC with a smart outlet

Hey all,

I just purchased and installed a new Frigidaire 15,100 BTU window unit. I've been using Belkin WeMo outlets around my house to control various devices from my phone.

As I understand, this AC will resume the last setting in the event of a power outage. This means I think I'd be able to turn the unit off via a WeMo and also turn it back on. My question is if this would be harmful to the AC?

Same concept would apply for using an outlet timer. Are new ACs affected by this repeated power loss/restore events?
