long story short, compressor runs fine but blower fan in air handler not running on my old Trane unit.
checked wiring from thermostat, was good running at 27v. i also connected the green fan wire to the red power wire behind thermostat to determine if the fan would run from there(no it wouldn't). When I did this to the yellow wire my compressor outside fired up perfectly.
so I crawled up and opened the unit, tested the capacitor which is at 10μF, this tested at 10.4 actually.
next it tested the transformer on the low voltage side and got 1Ω(not so sure about that but could be my cheap multi meter)
also when I turn off and on the breaker next to the air handler the fan spools for .5 to 1 seconds before a it clicks and turns off. I would test the fan but my multi meter is a cheap etekcity msr-r600 that's only rated for 400ma. is there any way I can test the fan by going directly to the power source.
TL;DR blower fan testing instructions needed
any other testing suggestions are welcomed.
