Powered Fresh Air Damper Setting

Hi all, newbie when it comes to home HVAC, so bear with me, and I appreciate all the knowledge on this sub!

I have a Trol-A-Temp timer that controls a fresh air damper above my furnace. Currently, the damper is not wired in to the furnace, and just the timer is set to a several hours a day to turn on. When on, the damper opens and the upstairs bathroom exhaust fan and the mudroom laundry exhaust fans turn on.

My question is if I tie this into the furnace, is the correct operation to turn on the blower at the time the fresh air vent is open? This seems to depend on the ambient temperatures whether this is a good idea or not. Is having just the damper open and the exhaust fans cycle on sufficient?

Home is in the Seattle area for reference of ambient conditions.

THANK YOU!
