I have a 3 story house with 2 AC units. A small one for the first floor and a big one for the 2nd and 3rd floor. The house is old (100 years) but was completely gutted and remodeled last year. The downstairs AC works great but since the hot weather started to come in (90's) the second floor wont cool off past 78 degrees. The HVAC guy came out and checked everything and couldn't figure out why it was not cooling. The air coming out of the vent is 52 degrees and the unit runs 24 hours a day. There is only one air return for the whole second floor but he said that is probably not the problem. He wanted me to block the air return on the 3rd floor and see if that would help cool the second. It didn't. He said the only other thing we could do was to put a ductless unit in the master bed room. Do you think this is the best option? Any ideas on why the second floor wont cool off?
Thanks!
