I'm in a suburb of Tulsa, OK. I called a heat and air company because the house temp was running 6-8 degrees higher than the setpoint.
After waiting a day for the coils that were severely iced over to thaw out, the tech determined the problem was a bad TXV valve, which apparently has been an issue with Rheem units from that year. I did some quick Googling and found that the TXV valves run about $120. My estimate came back as just under $900 because the tech said that Rheem advised them to change out the coils as well.
So with labor, diagnostic and parts, is $892 out of line?
