First of all i may get flamed for asking this, but I am A Refrigeration Tech in Atlanta Ga. I normally install and repair Walk-ins and Restaurant Cooling equipment. I also occasionally repair the RTU's.
A friend of mine asked me to look at her residential system, she said it has never worked correctly and in the summer her house is always hot. I agreed to look at the unit and see if i could figure out what was wrong with it.
System: Residential Heat pump Mfg- Goodman Fixed Metering device (NOT TXV) return air temp-80 degrees supply air temp- 57 degrees 2 zones-upstairs/downstairs all zones opened system working properly pressures looked correct 375 high/ 130 low
can feel very little airflow through the vents with all zones opened, when i turn upstairs t-stat off upstairs zone closes and downstairs starts to cool/improved airflow.
she also told me that right before she moved into the house (bought it from her landlord) someone stole one of the condenser units outside and landlord didnt want to replace it.
Given this information i believe that the landlord just had the unit that was stolen's ductwork added to the other air handler and zoned in order to try to save money.
My question is this..... How do i find out if a Heat Load Calculation was done on the house? im assuming i would have to contact the builders.... but im not sure. I can always do another heat load calculation myself, but I havent done one since i was in HVAC trade school and im probably a little rusty.
