Hi all,
I just recently moved to a new apartment in Los Angeles, and I'm trying to cool a large living room / kitchen that is around 400-500 sq feet and has 2 computers and a stove in it.
I'm on a 6th floor apartment, and there's a large amount of stucco outside my window that has been damaged in the past by previous tenant's AC's leaking drainage/condensation onto it, so my landlord told me I couldn't use the window AC I bought off Amazon (a Frigidaire unit that didn't have a drainage hole on it to redirect the water), and I had to return it.
I wanted to get a window unit if possible, but I'm having trouble finding one that has a drainage port attached to it. It seems like portable units would solve my problem, but they seem to be more expensive, less effective at cooling, and a lot of the ones I looked at had reviews that were concerned for the drainage situation as well, either requiring frequent drainings or leaking onto the home floor. Does anyone have any recommendations on a solution, whether it be specific models or even generic advice on what to do? Ideally trying to keep the budget between $300 and $400.
Sorry if this post is not in the right place, but I'm at a loss, extremely decision-fatigued, and Reddit has rarely let me down in times like this. Thanks in advance.
