My house is a 2001 2700' 3 level variety. I have 2 zone hvac. The basement system I had replaced out about 4 years ago with a used 3 ton system I found on CL originally it was a 2.5 ton system. The attic system has given me fits for the better part of forever. The upstairs is a 2 ton comfortmaker r22 system. When the temp outside gets up into the 80's the thing never stops running. It is fully charged. This poor system has a lot of things going against it. Its in the attic and its super hot in there, the lines running to it are probably about 50' long at least from outside. I am not sure how good the insulation in the attic is, I have been thinking I should put more in. Even with the thermostat at 78 the system struggles to keep it cool. I am also thinking I would probably benefit from walling off the furnace up in the attic. Also I am thinking I would probably benefit from replacing it out with a 3 ton system.
