Hello /r/HVAC!
I am in need of some help for my home AC unit.
I'm here in the Texas heat and yesterday night, the air handler unit in the attic was not blowing air. The unit that's outside to the side of the house is working and the fan is spinning. As of right now, the air is barely blowing. It is very faint. I should also note that I had discovered one of the wires going to the thermostat was loose and I reconnected it and the whole unit started working again. Shortly after, it stopped.
In the ten plus years that I've lived here, the whole unit has never had any problems. I should also say that I've also never had it serviced professionally as well. I always just replaced the filter and cleaned out the outside unit of leaves and debris.
So far, I've tried some troubleshooting such as making sure the main breakers are all on the On position. I've also flipped the switch for the main AC unit off and on. I took a multimeter and measured the red power line for AC voltage going to the thermostat which is at around 26 or 27 Vac. I went up into the attic to inspect the air handler and plenum but everything is sealed with some sort of caulk or plaster.
This might be coming out of my ass but maybe the blower motor is dead? I don't know!
I'm quite close to calling a pro to check it out, but I'm going to wait for my Dad to come home from work since he is more knowledgeable.
I would appreciate any and all advice.
Thank you.
TLDR: Air handler not blowing air but outside unit is working.
