Hi! I'm new here so I hope I'm doing this right.
Anyway, we moved into this house in October and this is our first summer here (I live in southern NJ). No matter what, it seems like the upstairs just doesn't get cool. I'm someone who likes it to be like like 67 degrees in the house (I'm always hot and I have breathing issues) but I live with my parents so the lowest the old man will allow it is 72, and that's on a good day.
Problem is, it won't generally GET to 72 and the company we've had come out 4-5 times now through American Home Shield claims nothing is wrong. The downstairs zone (vents in the finished basement and first floor) seem to cool just fine down to 70 or even lower. But upstairs, it always feels hot and more importantly humid.
Right now it's about 90 outside, it's set to 71 upstairs, and the thermostat won't budge down from 76.
Anyone have any kind of insight into this at all? Having some good facts to relay to my parents/the HVAC company would be amazing.
Thanks so much!
