Last night I felt like it began to get warm in the house dispite the AC running. I realized it was blowing warm air. The outside condenser was operating but the lines were room temp. I figured that my compressor must be dead or I lost freon due to a sudden leak. I turned the system off overnight.
This morning I turned it back on and much to my surprise it works just fine. Cold air is blowing and the coolant line is very cold. Last night the condenser and coolant line were not frozen but I did not check the coil to see if that was frozen.
Aside from a frozen coil, could this be explained by anything else?
