Northern Virginia.
House was built in 1999. Two zones - main floor & basement AC/gas furnace; top floor AC/Heat Pump in attic.
Replaced the attic unit about ten years ago. Last year an AC repair guy said it was looking flaky and would probably have to be replaced soon. Now in the heat it's not pulling its weight (95F outside, thermostat set to 72F, rooms at 76F).
I'm getting a repair guy and estimates on replacements, but I'm curious if there are any things folks here would recommend. Kind of a "while this is being done, what's worth knowing or doing?"
Things like humidity control, help for allergies, improved efficiency...
Thanks in advance!
