Should I Have Air Ducts Cleaned?

We rented a home in Phoenix, AZ about 3 months ago. On the walk through the property manager only told us to change the intake air filter every month which we have. About 3 days ago the AC stopped working efficiently. The lowest the house would get was about 85F when it was 105 to 90 outside. We notified the property manager and he had an HVAC person come out to look at the system. He refilled the coolant in the unit and it works fine now, but he also pulled a filter out of part of the AC system that was in the garage. We never knew this had a filter nor did the property manager. I posted a picture of FB of the filter the HVAC guy pulled out and a friend said I should have the ducts cleaed because of the possibility of black mold. My question is should I be concerned about mold if this filter was on the unit in my garage and not the intake? I can take pictures of the unit in the garage if that's needed too.
