Our a/c is strange: we thought we might have a freon problem because the a/c can't keep the house cool when it gets hot (like now), but we discovered by accident that if we set the thermostat on 70 (before actual outside temps get hot) and leave it there when the temps are hitting 90 outside, our home never goes above 70 (which is a bit chilly during the day for us), BUT if we raise the set temperature to 72 on a hot day, inside temps will jump up to 75 or more and we can't get it back down again. Why would such an odd thing happen? Why can our a/c hold a temperature of 70 (if set beforehand) but not 72? Could the thermostat be doing something weird?
