Has anyone heard of a suction accumulator going bad besides a leak? Did a screen or a hole get clogged? Im an apprentice helping a service tech trouble shoot an american standard split system. It runs for about 2.5 days then it cant generate enough suction, so it all of the r22 and oil gets trapped in the air handler just 15-20 foot directly below and the compressor cuts out on thermal protection. good amps when we are there. we have replaced the compressor, contactors, driers, filters, checked all the pipe, etc. I think we are about to go crazy. the only major component we haven't replaced is the accumulator.
also, there are similar units next to it with the same set up without the same problem.
Any help or advice would greatly be appreciated.
