I plan on adding an electric hot water heater in line with the hot water system on an oil boiler system. The oil system has an on demand tankless type of heater for the hot water. My plan is to keep the system hooked up and disconnecting the low limit on the aquastat. Then run the electric hot water heater after the boiler to feed the rest of the house.
What are the pros/cons to this rather than disconnecting the oil tankless all together? I'm worried about the tankless getting damaged without any water running through it. The only downfall I see is that the water will get heatef before the electric hot water heater when the heating mode on the oil burner is engaged.
