I'd like to add a vent, but I don't want to mess things up...

I'm building a workshop in my basement for me to play in, and the room has no windows or exterior doors. As a result it has no moving air and gets quite stuffy in there, not to mention warm!

But what it does have is some duct work in the joists. I've been contemplating putting a ceiling vent into one of the runs, to blow some sweet, sweet conditioned air into the room.

Do I need to be concerned about potentially unbalancing a line? I can also run a direct line, as the furnace is just outside the wall I put up. Is there a better way to go?
