I am a plumber / service tech, 17 years experience. I am having a house built by a reputable builder and tin smasher. They decided, against my advice, to use my furnace as a construction heater. The manual indicates that to do so the furnace must use 100% outdoor air for combustion, if not any parts affected will not be covered by warranty (so basically everything except the blower motor). The intake is pulling air from the basement as drywall is being installed and sanded and before the concrete was poured in basement. They are now replacing the furnace at my lawyers insistence that we will not pay for the furnace as it has not been installed as per the manufacturers requirement (which is also required by code). Am i being ridiculous here? What would you do if it was your house?
