This is kind of a dumb question but something I always wondered about. I have central air in my house, but my room is still searing hot in the summer, so I compensate with a portable AC unit that vents through my window. My question is, why does the air need to come from outside? My understanding is the vent pulls air from outside and cools it, then it empties out into the room, lowering the temperature of the room. Why doesn't the air conditioner just pull in the hot air FROM the room itself instead of outside? Would that result in loss of oxygen? Or am I missing something
