I've always seen registers placed at windows around the perimeter of homes. Is this one of those things that's just "always been that way", or is there some real science behind this?
I'm asking... Because I am running a trunk from my basement through two floors to an attic, then to branches in the attic to drop air into 4 rooms. I have the trunk coming up right in the center of the attic between the rooms... So the most efficient way to drop the air in would be registers closer to the middle of the house. But that would leave my windows without registers.
What do you think? Run the longer branches so I have registers at the windows like everyone else... Or short branches to get the air into the rooms without running clear across unconditioned attic?
