My home is under warranty and one of my air conditioning unit stopped cooling. Root cause apparently is that the compressor needs to be replaced. Contractor said that a new wiring setup is required to replace the old R22 compressor to today's standards and wants $345 that's not covered by the warranty to do this. The warranty does cover the compressor replacement. I'm trying to figure out if this is legitimate or if I should get a second opinion by asking the warranty company to send another company? Anyone have any experience with this?
