A/C unit dumped about a gallon of water over 20 minutes, no longer cooling

Last night, our air conditioner dumped about a gallon of water in a 20 minute period. After that, I couldn't force it to start blowing even by putting the fan in the "on" position. The unit eventually came back on after about 45 minutes and cooled the house to 72F.

When I got home from work today, the house was at 80F and the unit wasn't running. I dropped the temperature on the thermostat and it started blowing after about 10 minutes.

After doing some research, I took my shop vac out to the condensate line and tried to purge it (suck, not blow). I only pulled out water but no solids. I fear I didn't get a good enough seal by trying to use duct tape.

It's 79F in my house right now. Please help!
