New owner, 25 year old home, original AC. Time to upgrade? What to upgrade?

Hi all. Just bought my "forever" home in Southern Ontario. 2 story brick, 1700 sq. feet + finished basement. We're seeing temps around 35°C right now, and my original-but-maintained AC is struggling to keep the upstairs cool. I like to sleep at 22°, which I realize is quite cool but I can't sleep properly much above that. In fact during winter I like 16-17°, but the wife doesn't :) We've had to use a window AC unit to keep the upstairs reasonable.

Questions; My rental HW tank company (Reliance) is offering the SmartAir 1000 AC with a nice financing option. This unit is built by Rheem, and is probably the 1.5ton unit. Would it be smart to have them come quote me? Would I realize significant energy savings over my current machine + 5k window unit? Electricity is quite expensive in Ontario. Should I worry about having a house-brand AC unit? Should I request the 2T unit instead? What else should I know?

Thanks,
