Both are of the spark type ignition and the electrodes (iirc) are nearly identical. Both have the same complaint of either the ignition taking several attempts to ignite the the unit or won't ignite at all. On the first I found a bit of oxidation on the ignitor base, which I cleaned but wasn't sure if that was the fix. I cleaned the whole assembly. The next had a very dirty electrode which, of course I cleaned as along as the ignitor base. It seems on both that the spark is only intermittently grounding on the side terminal, where it should. I know the later electrode isn't snug in the porcelain insulator which leads me to believe may be an issue.
I just would like some ideas on why or what is causing the spark to jump somewhere else than where it should. What distance should the electrode be from the side terminal and would air/fuel ration affect ignition?
Sorry for the book, THANKS!!
