Bought a house and we knew it had HVAC issues. Two things are the problem. The upstairs works fine, nearly, and is a heat pump. The downstairs is a natural gas furnace and it doesn't heat. We got a guy coming this afternoon to install a pressure switch. Not sure what that does but I think it will remedy the problem of the furnace not hearing.
The second issue is that both up and down stairs systems only turn on if I switch the fan from auto to on. Neither works when switched to auto. For example, the upstairs thermo is set to 69, and the switch is flipped to heat. However the temp is currently 58 and nothing is blowing. But if I turn on the fan I'll have the second floor hot in like ten minutes.
