Bristol compressor melted on the side

So it looks like my Bristol compressor blew out or maybe even started on fire. The connection point on it for the wire harness is completely melted and the heat pump obviously wont turn on anymore. I had a tech out and they wanted $2300 for replacement and install which I can't afford. I was hoping to order the part through a contractor friend and hire a tech on the side for the install. I'm having trouble with the details however.

Here is the Bristol compressor sticker information: Bristol model #H82J283ABCA Part # 760117-2020-20 V: 230/208 , HZ: 60, PH:1, LRA: 74

How do I know if the old bristol was r-22 or 410a? The information I look up for it online says 410a but the tech I had out here said I was using r-22 and it would cost me much more. Was he lying?

I found this online parts store that has the right model number. Is it smart to order something like this online?

What about a substitute compressor from another company? I called Bristol directly and they said they wouldn't expect to even have my compressor replacement in stock until next year!

Sorry in advance for the home owner intrusion to your sub, I just can't afford all the markups the heating company out here is trying to put on me. If I can get the part myself I can cut that cost in half, at most.

Any help is appreciated and thank you!
