What would be the reason to not place a >95% furnace in an attic? I want to put a furnace/ac in an unconditioned attic, and a few folks told me that you should not put a high efficiency gas furnace in an attic, and instead should use an 80% with a chimney through the roof.
As far as running the exhaust/intake for a >95%, I could do this through the side of the attic rather than cutting the roof for a chimney; I would think this would be preferable. The reason I have heard not to use the high efficiency is because of the condensation and humidity in the attic... but isn't that easily mitigated with the exhaust and condensation pump?
