I spent 4 days Googling and found nothing. I have a Buderus Propane Boiler. I woke up one morning to no heat, but I had hot water.
I have 3 zones. One worked a little, the other two not at all. I did some process of elimination stuff. I bled the zones, checked and replaced batteries in the thermostats etc...
Nothing worked, and the furnace itself was firing fine. I suspected it was the Taco Circulation pump located before the three zones split after 2 days.
A few YouTube videos say to test it, you can put a screwdriver. Simply touch the end to the pump, and hold your ear to the handle.
It definitely works to hear, but it sounded good to me.
So I went to Lowes and bought a new circulator pump for $79.98.
You can replace just the cartridge without having to drain the system, but it's almost the same price.
It was super easy. 4 bolts and 3 wires to connect. (Obviously shut off your furnace and electric). I shut my furnace off before I went to Lowes so it would be cool when I got back.
So I drained the system, installed the new pump, filled the system back up then bled each zone.
Now my heat works better than it ever has in the 18 months I've owned this house. My second floor never reached 68 before.
After I fired up the unit, I used the screwdriver trick to see if it sounded different. It didn't, it sounds exactly the same.
Now it does and I'm sleeping in the big bed again. Wife was mad at me for being stubborn and wanting to fix it myself.
I do have a gas fireplace that helped on the first floor during those 4 days.
So this is to anyone who has a similar problem who is handy enough to fix minor issues.
