So we have a 1000 sq. ft. home that we are having central AC installed. We have an additional ~300 sq. ft. room that we need a bunch of additional ductwork to properly heat/cool. Even then, can't be certain it will ever have parity with rest of the home (it is all on same floor).
So, we could pay more for the a smaller AC unit and mini split to zone the additional room. The downsides to this is mainly that mini splits are not very attractive inside or outside. Plus it is the more expensive option (even if there are potential savings energy wise).
The slightly larger AC unit with new ductwork ran is a cheaper option that also is more attractive.
Any suggestions or advice? We want to go with single system for simplicity, cost and aesthetics. Still, we can't be certain how the room will handle hold the heat or cold. Hopefully the temperature differential after they install the additional ductwork and airflow won't be much at all.
