Been restarting furnace for years by banging on it, but recently the house got really cold too often, and wife asked me to fix the furnace. Have diagnosed the problem down to the small clear plastic box inside the larger metal box inside the area with the blower motor in it -- the lower of the two panels in the furnace front (the one with the white plastic button that kills power when the panel is removed). Last I fiddled with it, I found a clicky (instead of firm) connection for the black wire that gives power to the draft inducer. Tried and failed to force a failure of the draft inducer by messing with this loose connection (loose, but ain't coming off easy and I'm afraid I'll break something if I use too much force to remove and reseat it). Since fiddling with this connection, the furnace runs fine. Decided to order a replacement clear plastic box to keep on hand for quick repair, but leery of messing with it any more (since it's working, and seems fragile). Need the part number for the clear plastic box (with lots of wires attached), or perhaps an official name for it (draft inducer relay?). My trained and experienced brother is helping by phone and wanting an electrical diagram (not sure part number would be on it, but if so, that would be awesome). Thanks!
