~~Hi all. I'm building an RV-type van and taking it across the country for an adventure this summer I've been saving up for the last 4+ years.
I am now doing the propane gas system, tank must be inside the vehicle.
There aren't many windows or ventilation. In the winter because of the cold it will be most likely completely sealed.
While running the cooktop and the tankless water heater (shower) I will be running the roof fan in reverse, and cracking windows for carbon monoxide levels. The heater already has a line for exhausting.
I will have multiple carbon monoxide detectors, both plug in and battery. Will be using threaded tight connections, and doing extensive leak testing. (Anymore tips?)
I am going to completely seal (in wood with caulk on edges) the propane tank box, and all connection hoses will come out of small drilled holes in the wood and caulked, small computer fans will constantly run to a vent hole going outside drilled in the floor. So the air inside the box housing the tank where all these tricky connections go will constantly be vented outside, to further prevent a disaster.
But the chance of me blowing up I do not want to die and have happen, so please help!
MY GOAL.
I am trying to safely connect 3 propane appliances, with each connection having it's own shutoff valve.
MY TANK:

THE THREE APPLIANCES:
1) https://www.propexheatsource.co.uk/heaters/hs2211-external-gas-air-heater#installation
**Was told this is a 5/16 connection, can confirm.
2)https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000TXOJQ4/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1
**5/16 as well. Confirmed. IT COMES WITH a chinese CSA regulator, this regulator fits the Propex gas line in. [Hoping to use this single regulator for all devices - will this mosly likely work, or is there a MAJOR pressure difference? All devices will be used at one single time, via valves, ever.]
3)https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01D42QH2U/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
**No idea. Praying / assuming 5/16" - it arrives Tuesday.
Here's the options I've been proposed over the last few days, but.....!
The problem: My concern is I think those are "1/4" NPT" tubes. As I said the regulator I have that came with the tank are all 5/16".
- Use two of these, then get three individual regulators: https://www.amazon.com/Propane-Y-Splitter-1-Male-2-Female-appliances/dp/B01HFRIKT8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1484419410&sr=8-1&keywords=propane+splitter
The problem: I would then need 3 regulators. Questions below about those leaking, because regulators may be intended for outdoors? Also, where could I get a gas valve that somehow fits and works off these individual regulators if I go this route?
- Use black iron / brass or copper / steel pipe fittings with threaded tape. Done.
The problem: I've been looking EVERYWHERE for these, including matching threads, and gas valves that somehow all fit together at the 5/16" size. NO LUCK so far..... If anyone knows the parts, or what to name / look for, and can link me a complete system so I can just stop tearing my hair out and go order it finished with this, that would be amazing.
QUESTIONS:
-
Where can I get a gas valve that fits on the end of a 5/16" regulator, again if I had to use adapters, won't this bottleneck the gas output and affect the heating output?
-
Do regulators leak? I have one from china included in the box with the tankless water heater at 5/16". I was hoping to just use that for everything, if I somehow have to get three regulators, are they meant for indoors and DO NOT leak? I heard some might be used
-
I WILL be doing the soapy water test to check for leaks as well as probably getting one of those PSI tester kits doing the same thing.
-
ANY OTHER life-saving safety tips or things I'm missing? Someone said I can add this as well, which I shall: https://www.amazon.com/Rectorseal-31631-Tru-Blu-Pipe-Thread-Sealant/dp/B0012YO0Z4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1484418690&sr=8-1&keywords=blue+rectorseal
Thank you for helping me not get blown up, and die, and fueling my adventure with your experience and know-how and wisdom! (pun intended)
TL;DR: How do I safely connect three appliances, all valved, to a single propane tank, in a way that hasn't been recommended above?
