Hi folks. I'm an absolute novice when it comes to HVAC stuff, so forgive me for being ignorant... My furnace has been acting a bit wonky for the last 6 months and I was hoping you could shed some light on the issue. Here are the symptoms:
- Thermostat calls for heat
- Furnace blower starts blowing immediately (gas burner NOT on)
- Blower runs for ~45 seconds, blowing cold air, then shuts off
- Thermostat still calling for heat
- A few minutes later, the gas burner turns on, warms the exchanger, and the furnace operates as it's supposed to.
Any ideas why my blower fan is blowing cold air for short periods of time when heat is called for but the burner isn't turning on at first?
