Thermostat battery died, now air handler fuse blows.

I have a heat pump system. The batteries died on my Honeywell thermostat and now the 5amp fuse in the Bryant air handler keeps blowing? The air handler will hum for a brief second before the fuse blows. I'm not very knowledgeable in HVAC. About 3 years ago, I replaced the fan motor and capacitor.

Any helpful ideas before I call a technician?
