The flexible ducting that branches off from a larger flexible duct and runs to the main bathroom in my home is nearly ripped off and was laying on the ground, not even connected to the floor vent at all. I came inside and removed the floor vent and could see directly down into the crawlspace! I closed the vent off for now since it is not providing any function and is acting solely as an easy access point for creepy crawlies at the moment. I obviously need an HVAC repairperson to come out and take care of that.
Until this can happen, I'm not as concerned about restoring heat to the bathroom but I am noticing that the house is heating unevenly with one side blazing hot and the other chilly. My guess is that the huge tear in the line is causing this at least in part.
How can I patch this hole in the line to prevent my HVAC system from being under so much stress? The flexible ducting is easily accessible in the crawlspace. I haven't taken a close look at the tear but my guess is that I can probably put my hand into the flexible ducting without any issue.
