Customers who watch

I don't mind if customers wanna hang out and ask questions. I would rather work alone not talking but it is what it is. every once in a while I get the asshole customer who is just a dbag looking to pick a fight and argue about shit. Yesterday was one of those times.

calls my company out on a Sat because the guys he got to install this piece of shit he had 2 days ago couldn't be reached. find the system flat. found 3 spots leaking all brazes. i give him a price to repair after explaining manufacturer warranties don't cover hack installs just defects with the system. after he was done losing his shit he proceeds to follow me the entire time as i correct the 3 leaks, change the filter drier and pressure test to 450. while it was holding pressure i cleaned up the area which was the first time he flew off the handle since agreeing to do the work "im paying you to fix my unit and you're cleaning up not even working on it" i try to explain i have to let the system hold the nitrogen to both dry it out and to confirm no other leaks are present..didn't help his anger. Then after about 30min of holding exactly where i left it i dump the nitrogen and break out the vac pump. hook it all up with the micron gauge and clean up the rest of the mess and bring the 410a and scale out. he absolutely loses his shit again as i stand there "doing nothing" as i wait for his 5 ton system with a 45 feet of line set pull a 500 vac.

i don't understand how people think its okay to treat others that way. a part of me was waiting for him to put his hands on me so i could reach back and pop him right in the mouth cause my boss is totally fine with hitting someone if they put their hands on you first something I've learned in the few months working here after its happened a few times with other techs with no negative impact to the tech.

i just needed to vent. lol
